Our Sanstha

Kharepatan Panchkroshi Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Kharepatan, a regionally renowned and respected educational institution, needs no introduction. Kharepatan Panchkroshi Shikshan Prasarak Mandal was established in the year 1953. The said institution was known as the leading educational institution in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.

The exemplary sacrifices of the founder-father of the sanstha, freedom fighter Guruvarya Veer Shankarao G. Pendharkar, educationist and his great wife Sau.Vatsalatai are recognized for realizing a noble goal, a noble cause.

Sansthas father Hon’able Freedom fighter Veer Shankarao G. Pendharkar’s native village is Harpude (near Devrukh) in Sangmeshwar taluka of Ratnagiri district and actively participated in the “Chale Jaav” movement of 1942 freedom struggle.

Then sir came to Kharepatan for educational work. Being a follower of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, freedom fighter Guruvarya Veer Shankarao G. Pendharkar was committed to imparting education to the common people, so he established this educational institution in Kharepatan in 1953 and started the first high school.

His contribution to education in general is invaluable as he tried his best to provide quality education to the poor, ignorant and all classes of the society. The founder of the institution, the freedom fighter Guruvarya Veer Shankarao Pendharkar was a common man who devoted himself wholeheartedly to education. He fully realized the dire need for the spread of education as the intensity of disparities and distortions in the society can be removed only through education.

He was the hero of the poor, the weak, the underprivileged and left no stone unturned for their upliftment. To remove the suffering and ignorance of the people, to bring the light of hope in their lives, there is no option but education, so he did a great humanitarian work by working hard to educate the people.

Kharepatan Panchkroshi Shikshan Prasarak Mandal’s Arts, Commerce and Science College, Kharepatan Taluka Kankavli District Sindhudurg (Maharashtra) is a premier educational institution in Kharepatan Panchkroshi affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

It is run by Kharepatan Panchkroshi Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Kharepatan Taluka Kankavli District Sindhudurg, an educational institution in Kharepatan Panchkroshi, founded by the visionary freedom fighter Guruvarya Veer Shankarao G. Pendharkar with the aim of realizing the dream of socio-economic upliftment of the rural people and their overall development through education.

Hon’ble Mr. Praveen Digambar Lokre, Hon’ble Mr. Bhikaji Keshav Karle, Hon’ble Mr, Sudhakar Ganpat Karle, Hon’ble Dr. Atmaram Deu Kamble, Hon’ble Mohan Bhaskar Kawale, Late Purshottam Dhondi Dhumale, Hon’ble Sanjay Jairam Desai, Hon’ble Dr. Umesh P. Balan, Hon’ble Parvez Alimiyan Patel, Hon’ble Nandkishor Kashinath Korgaonkar who are visionaries of Kharepatan worked tirelessly to start a senior college named College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Kharepatan in 2012-2013 with the noble intention of providing higher education to all classes of the society.

The college was established on the concept of a parent institution to educate the students of Kharepatan Panchkroshi and especially Kankavali, Devgad, Vaibhavwadi and Rajapur tehsils of farmers, workers, fishermen. At the time of establishment, our college was the only option available to the children of the aforementioned population for higher education opportunities.

It has successfully been marching ahead from last eleven years and taking efforts endlessly for the betterment of its stakeholders. We are proud to mention that this college has contributed appreciably in shaping careers / to the career development of its college students, which has enhanced the reputation of the college.

Present Governing and Local Body working tirelessly for the overall development of the college. The Chairman of the College Development Committee (CDC) guided and pursued the best way to get many awards for the college to get a high position in the University of Mumbai. Due to the quality education provided by this college, the students have been able to achieve a special position in the fields of academic, social, political, cultural, sports etc.

The college offers traditional programs like BA, B.Com and B.Sc at UG level also run the 15 short term certificate courses.

To Achieve the objectives as stated in National Education Policy 2020. The academic programmes and career oriented courses offered by the college have been proved beneficial in mounting placement of the students in different fields.

Extension activities carried out under NSS, DLLE, Health Centre, Arts Circle, and Women Development Cell, Student Development Cell, Acdemic and Staff welfare are distinctive features of the college and its commitment towards societal responsibilities. The college conducts variegated outreach activities each year with the help of its support services to instil life skills and core values among the students. It also takes care of the students’ engagement in research activities through Avishkar Research Convention and other research related ventures like paper / poster presentations, participation in conferences / seminars / workshops, training programmes, project writing and presentation etc.

The college has made try to give remarkable growth over the years in its infrastructure and facilities to cope with the changing scenario of higher education and modern demands in the context of globalization. Teaching-Learning and Evaluation Process of the college has been supported with conducive educational atmosphere and ideal infrastructural facilities. The college has adequate number of classroom and well-equipped Administrative Office, Science Laboratories, Computer Labs, Central Library, Departmental Libraries, Auditorium/Multi purpose Hall, Competitive Examination Guidance Centre, Examination Sections, CAP Centre, Smart Classroom, Leisure Place for Boys’ and Girls’, Canteen, Parking, etc. to facilitate the curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. IT component has effectively been implemented in teaching-learning and evaluation by the faculty and students. Moreover, it has a Sport / Gymkhana, playground, and other infrastructural parts that contribute towards the overall development of the stakeholders and smooth functioning of the college.

Student Support and their progression to higher education are looked after by the college sincerely. It offers welfare schemes for both the staff and students. Earn and Learn Scheme, Yuva Raksha Vima Yojana (Group Insurance), Mentor-Mentee Scheme, Book Bank Scheme, Spandan College Magazine, Yuva-jallosh Cultural Programme, Academic and Career Counselling, Socio-economics themebased Wallpapers, Guidance to avail government and non-government scholarships, Annual Prize Distribution Function, Payment of Admission Fees in instalments, Special Incentives to the NSS Volunteers and sport persons, etc. are some of the remarkable mechanisms/schemes to support the students.

The college has a well-defined organizational structure that promotes decentralized governance, leadership and management systems involving all stakeholders in the general administration and functioning of the college.

Staff and students are elected to represent academic and administrative institutions that help achieve institutional goals.

Besides, the college has functional Internal Quality Assurance Cell established in 2018 as per the guidelines laid down NAAC. In the academic year 2023-2024 it is striving to achieve the best grade of accreditation by NAAC.

Eco-friendly campus is one of the outstanding features of the college. The college has beautiful campus of 1 acres with lush green environmental conditions and academic ambience. We take conspicuous efforts for the conservation of natural resources and the environment through Water Conservation, Tree Plantation.

Green Audit and Energy Audit by the competent authorities are carried out by the college as its commitment towards nature and its preservation. Pure drinking water facility, waste management, plantation of trees, carbon neutrality through “No Vehicle Day”, etc. Are looked after by the college on priority basis to provide the stakeholders with healthy and environment friendly college campus.

Reflecting the ideals cherished by the visionary founder of the institution, Swatantrya Sainik Guruvarya Veer Shankarao G. Pendharkar, the institution has made commendable progress in the field of education.

The Sanstha basically works for rural and remote peoples to uplift their educational standard and achieve their overall development.

Our college was established in 2012 on an unaided basis to educate children of farmers, workers and fisherman residing in Kharepatan village and near by also Kanakvli, Rajapur, Vaibhavwadi and Devgad Tehsils villages. It was the first and sole option of Higher Education at that time in nearby Kharepatan Panchakroshi.

The vision of the college is to provide quality education to all classes of the society.

We are proud to mention that our college has played a significant role in the career and personality development of numerous students who have made the college famous.

Hundreds of students have benefited from the quality education provided by our college and have risen to prominence in academic, social, sports and cultural etc. fields.
